The NSDI Support Programme takes care of the coordination and execution of geographic information (GIS-data) disclosure and capacity strengthening activities for partner countries to assist in the implementation of their National SDIs.

National SDI Policy and Government support
Assistance in the required Governmental network set-up, drafting of national development agendas, including policy development and organizational infrastructure.

Capacity Strengthening
Institutional strengthening through education and training courses, harmonization of activities with local decision makers and staff of SME's and NGO's dealing with management and/or monitoring of natural resources. Education and training in relevant application areas addressing the national development agendas.

Geographic generation
Depending on the application area, different types of geographic information or GIS-data are needed in order to support local decision making. The use may range from simple infrequent large scale low-resolution (satelite) remote sensing imagery to very frequent small scale thematic maps, derived from complex application models. Implementation of the models and the operational generation of these products will be taken care of.

SDI technical infrastructure
ICT support related to NSDI development, including internet connection, GIS data and and GeoNetwork metadata catalog.
