From 23 to 27 November 2009, FAO and ITC are organizing an electronic expert consultation on a proposed e-learning curriculum to be developed entitled "Management of Spatial Information". UNSDI-NCO contributes to the e-consultation through our "NSDI Support" programme.
The e-learning curriculum is being developed to provide organizations in developing countries, and those working in the field of spatial information management, with the necessary tools and methodologies required to develop skills and infrastructure that will enable them to make full use of up-to-date spatial data in their operation.
The e-consultation is a critical step in the development of the curriculum, as it will bring together a wide range of experts and institutional representatives involved with the management of spatial information. The expected outcomes of the e-consultation are:
1) an agreed target audience and curriculum outline;
2) identified sources of existing materials, methodologies and tools relevant to the curriculum; and
3) indications of likely contributing partners wishing to participate in authoring and developing the curriculum.
The outcome will be implemented in the Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK), which can be found at http://www.imarkgroup.org/
