UNSDI Focal Points endorse the Project Proposal for the Center of Excellence for UNSDI
On 9 April 2010 at a conference call of UNSDI Focal Points, the Project Proposal for the Center of Excellence for UNSDI drafted by the Office of the CITO for UNGIWG was endorsed in principle by representatives from UNHCR, WHO, FAO, UNEP, WFP, UNOOSA, ECA, OCHA and IFAD. The UNCS representative was the only UNGIWG member present opposing the Proposal. As the author of the Project Proposal, the office of the ASG/CITO abstained.
After the suggested revisions are completed, Chairs will seek UNGIWG Principals' endorsement of the Project Proposal for the Center of Excellence for UNSDI along with the ToR for the UNSDI Steering Committee and the Technical Advisory Body.
Conference call participants also decided to establish an UNGIWG Task Force to work on the updated UNSDI Framework for presentation to the Interim UNSDI Steering Committee to be established before UNGIWG-11.
